Maze Runner The Death Cure merupakan film bergenre dystopia agresi sci-fi garapan dari Wes Ball selaku sutradara dan produser dari ketiga film Maze Runner. Ini menjadi sekuel dari film sebelumnya, Maze Runner The Scorch Trials (2015) dan menjadi film ketiga yang disesuaikan dari buku terakhir The Maze Runner trilogy dengan judul The Death Cure.
Dystopia sendiri ialah genre buku yang menjelaskan wacana keadaan dunia di masa mendatang yang lebih hancur daripada kini alasannya ialah aneka macam duduk perkara menyerupai perang ataupun pemerintahan diktator, referensi film yang bergenre dystopia ialah The Hunger Games dan Divergent.

Film Maze Runner The Death Cure berlatar waktu enam bulan sesudah insiden di film sebelumnya, Maze Runner The Scorch Trials.
